R1 and RNRNYC Racing

Supporting elite cyclists who balance demanding careers with the pursuit of victory on the road.

Elite cycling demands precision, discipline and relentless focus. For many riders, the challenge to perform at their peak goes far beyond race day.

That’s especially true for the athletes of RNRNYC RACING. This New York–based cycling team’s riders balance demanding professional careers with the intense training required to compete in elite cycling.

R1 is a team sponsor, and the partnership is built on a shared belief. It’s that high performance comes from strong systems, clear goals and a supportive environment that helps people reach their full potential.

Together, R1 and RNRNYC RACING are creating something unique in elite cycling. They have a successful program that supports athletes as both professionals and competitors while strengthening connections within the broader cycling community.

A Team Built to Help Athletes Reach Their Potential

RNRNYC RACING is the community hub and performance lab of RUBBER N’ ROAD, a New York-based performance design studio that supports competition, athletic development and open-access community participation in real-world environments. The team fields approximately 20 riders competing at the Category Pro123 level in road and gravel races across the United States and internationally.

For RUBBER N’ ROAD and RNRNYC RACING co-founder and team captain Max Davis, the goal was never to only assemble a roster of strong cyclists. It was to build an environment where athletes could thrive both on the bike and in their careers.

“I’ve been riding bikes for most of my life and racing for about 10 years, and super excited to be launching the now current iteration of the team this year in 2026 with a great group of athletes and partners, and we’re very excited for a big season ahead,” Davis said.

Many riders on the team hold demanding jobs in New York City, with some working as much as 80 hours per week. That makes racing logistics, travel planning and training schedules even more complex.

RNRNYC RACING was designed to remove those barriers. The team organizes race calendars, develops strategic race plans and provides athletes with the structure and support needed to focus on performance rather than logistics. By simplifying the operational side of racing, riders can devote their energy to training, competition and personal growth.

Precision, Planning and the Pursuit of Performance

Cycling success is the result of hard work, dedication and strategic approaches to training. Davis explains that race days represent only a fraction of the work required to compete at a high level.

“Race day is probably 10% of the overall effort when it comes to training,” he said. “When I think of precision, it’s about creating a training plan that we can follow week after week that has a very clear dialogue around what are the kind of more short term goals, what are the longer term goals, personal versus team goals as well, and how are we achieving that and sticking to that plan week after week?”

That philosophy of preparation mirrors R1’s approach to operational excellence. In both cycling and healthcare revenue cycle management, consistent execution depends on thoughtful planning, strong systems and collaboration.

At the same time, the racing team maintains a culture that emphasizes positivity and balance. Davis points out that while the athletes on his team take racing seriously, they also work to ensure the cycling experience remains enjoyable and supportive.

“We want to put our athletes in a very positive mindset. We take what we do very seriously,” Davis said. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We still want it to be fun.”

Why R1 and RNRNYC Racing Are a Natural Fit

The partnership between R1 and RNRNYC RACING reflects a shared commitment to health, performance and community impact. Davis sees R1 as a partner that understands the value of structured systems and collaborative environments.

“R1 first and foremost really stands for a healthy lifestyle and promoting health, and that’s exactly what our team is about and what cycling is about,” Davis said.

The alignment goes deeper than branding. Both organizations emphasize precision, execution and teamwork as essential elements of success.

By supporting the team, R1 helps create opportunities for athletes to pursue their competitive ambitions while maintaining thriving professional careers. Just as importantly, the partnership provides a platform for engaging the broader cycling community through group rides, events and outreach initiatives.

A Team That Blends Experience and Opportunity

One of the most distinctive aspects of RNRNYC RACING is its roster. The team brings together riders from a wide range of backgrounds, including former professional cyclists and athletes transitioning from other sports.

“One of the unique aspects of our team is that we have a great group of athletes who are pursuing careers outside of cycling in or around New York City, and we’re providing those athletes with the opportunity to race alongside cyclists who have raced at the highest levels of the sport,” Davis said.

The roster includes riders who have competed in events like the Tour de France in addition to young athletes just beginning their racing careers. That blend of experience helps create a collaborative environment where athletes learn from each other while pushing the entire team forward.

The result is a program that values both performance and development.

Redefining Success in Competitive Cycling

While podium finishes are always welcome, RNRNYC RACING measures success in broader terms. For Davis and his teammates, the ultimate goal is building a team where athletes feel supported and empowered to pursue their goals.

“Podiums are definitely important, but beyond that we want to create a great group of athletes who just have a great time together and can work together to achieve their goals,” he said.

That philosophy aligns closely with R1’s own focus on collaboration, shared success and continuous improvement. As the 2026 season unfolds, the R1-RNRNYC RACINGpartnership represents more than a sponsorship. It’s a shared commitment to help people perform at their best, whether they’re competing in a national cycling race or delivering results in their professional careers.

Together, the organizations are proving that with the right support systems in place, athletes and professionals can push their limits and achieve more than they thought possible.
