Martin joined R1 in October 2025 during the Phare Health acquisition.
Martin is a doctor and clinical informatician. He practiced medicine in Australia, trained in informatics at Stanford and spent four years at Google and DeepMind building AI products using electronic health records. Martin has published extensively on machine learning with EHRs and co-chaired the World Congress on Health Informatics in 2023.
Martin has a bachelor’s degree in physics and a doctorate of medicine from the University of Sydney as well as a master’s degree in biomedical informatics from Stanford.
His side hustle is writing middle-grade children’s books with his partner.
