Making Healthcare Work Better Across Our Communities

At R1, our mission is clear—to make healthcare work better for all. That mission shapes how we support and work with providers, patients and payers every day. It also guides how we invest in the communities where we live and work.

As a responsible corporate citizen, R1 strives to make a meaningful impact in our communities through service and volunteerism, with a focus on access to healthcare, youth development and environmental protection. Through our Helping Hands and global corporate social responsibility programs, employees around the world are turning purpose into action and creating tangible benefits for people who need support.

Advancing Access to Healthcare

R1 believes that advancing our mission means helping expand access to care, resources and support beyond traditional care settings. In 2025, employees across India came together to assemble walker stands, with 240 employees supporting improved mobility and access to essential healthcare equipment for those in need. Another 300 employees participated in assembling wellness kits containing essential hygiene items, helping raise awareness about preventive healthcare and personal well-being within underserved communities. In addition, 50 employees engaged with shelter homes, supporting health and well-being through interaction, care and compassion.

R1 also launched two mobile medical healthcare vans in Indore to provide essential medical services to underserved communities. The initiative is designed to improve access to timely healthcare, early diagnosis and basic medical support for people with limited access to facilities.

In collaboration with Narayana Health Charitable Trust, we supported healthcare for underprivileged communities, helping 60 patients receive treatment for life-threatening diseases through 2025.

Employees also supported care-centered efforts that bring comfort during challenging moments. Through R1’s partnership with WeHero, senior leadership stuffed more than 400 teddy bears for Phil’s Friends, which provides care packages to patients undergoing cancer treatment. Following National Hire-a-Veteran Day, employees packed 600+ bags with essential items for Fisher House to support military families and their loved ones during times of medical need.

Supporting the Next Generation

Our mission also connects R1 to broader community well-being, including helping young people access education, confidence and opportunity. Across India office locations, 350 employees created sensory cards designed to stimulate touch and creativity, supporting inclusive learning and encouraging confidence and self-expression among children with special needs.

R1 continues its partnership of more than a decade with the Smile Foundation to support education for children from underserved communities in Delhi-NCR. Every year, R1 supports the education of 400 children from underprivileged backgrounds. In 2025, employees visited education centers in Noida and Gurugram, engaged with children through interactive sessions and distributed stationery kits, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive education and improved learning outcomes.

Our support extends to future workforce readiness as well. Through grant support to the Smile Foundation, R1 enabled skill development opportunities for individuals from underprivileged backgrounds, reaching 480 beneficiaries. As of December 2025, 320 beneficiaries had enrolled in skill development programs run by R1. The program aims to enhance employability and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.

During the Season of Giving campaign, local employees also filled more than 200 bags with hygiene and comfort items for children entering the foster care system.

Protecting the Environment for Healthier Communities

Healthy communities depend on healthy environments. That is why R1’s responsibility efforts also include initiatives that support sustainability and environmental awareness.

In July 2025, 50 employees participated in a beach cleaning drive in Chennai to reduce plastic waste and protect marine ecosystems. The cleanup spanned 8,844.26 square meters of coastline, with volunteers collecting 135 kilograms of waste. The effort contributed to cleaner coastlines while promoting responsible waste management and environmental stewardship.

R1 continued its collaboration with iamgurgaon in 2025. As part of our commitment to plant 2,500 trees annually in India, employees joined 30 children from R.J Antaram School to plant native Aravalli species in the Gurgaon region.

At IIT Hyderabad, R1 organized a butterfly garden activity to enhance campus biodiversity and promote environmental awareness. The initiative created a nurturing habitat for butterflies and pollinators while engaging employees in meaningful green action. Forty volunteers participated alongside representatives from IIT Hyderabad Green Office and United Way of Hyderabad, helping prepare planting beds, plant butterfly-attracting species and place educational signage.

During National Volunteer Month in April, R1 employees created nearly 200 solar lights for children experiencing energy poverty. These lights help children complete schoolwork after sunset and support improved education outcomes.

Purpose That Extends Beyond Our Business

The 2025 R1 Responsibility & Impact Report makes clear that our mission—to make healthcare work better for all—extends beyond the work we do inside the healthcare ecosystem. It also lives in how we serve our communities, support those in need and create opportunities for healthier, stronger futures. From expanding access to healthcare and supporting youth development to protecting the environment, R1 employees are helping turn purpose into measurable impact.
